Why don’t stacked discounts just add together?
Because each discount is applied to the price that’s already been reduced by the previous one, not to the original price. Two 10% discounts in sequence produce a 19% total discount, not 20%, since the second 10% is taken off a smaller number.
How do I calculate the final price after multiple discounts?
Apply each discount one at a time to the running price: multiply by (1 - discount as a decimal) for each discount in sequence. This calculator does that automatically as you add rows.
Does the order of discounts change the final price?
No - multiplying by a series of (1 - discount) factors gives the same result regardless of order. What does matter is whether your company’s policy allows discounts to stack at all; this tool assumes they do.
